Powerleague Manchester Nicholls Padel Opening Event

After months of anticipation, the wait was finally over, Powerleague’s biggest padel investment to date was ready to make its grand debut. The towering canopies of six state-of-the-art courts had loomed over Manchester Nicholls throughout the winter, promising something special. Now, with £1.4 million poured into a brand-new bar, vibrant social space, and world-class courts, it was time to celebrate.

A Thursday evening under the lights, filled with padel, music, food, and drinks, this wasn’t just an opening event; it was a statement. A night to remember.

And it certainly delivered.

With over 150 people walking through the doors and more than 100 jumping onto the courts for Intro to Padel workshops and high-energy Americano tournaments, the atmosphere was electric. The courts buzzed with fast-paced rallies, new friendships, and competitive spirit, as players of all levels got a taste of the sport that’s taking the UK by storm.

As the evening reached its peak, Powerleague CEO Christian Rose took to centre court alongside Club Manager Stuart Tomkins to officially open the courts. Christian spoke passionately about the rapid rise of padel, Powerleague’s bold vision for the future, and his appreciation for everyone who had come to celebrate. Then, in a fitting moment, Stuart and his son took the honours of cutting the ribbon, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for padel in Manchester.

The event wasn’t just about the courts, it was a full-on experience. Padel powerhouse Babolat was on-site, showcasing their cutting-edge 2025 range and offering expert advice on all things padel. White Claw kept the energy high with a killer soundtrack while treating guests to their brand-new Green Apple alcoholic seltzer (alongside fan-favourite Mango and Black Cherry flavours). And to fuel the action? Dr. Oetker’s Chicago Town pizzas kept everyone going strong throughout the night.

From the first serve to the final slice of pizza, it was a launch event worthy of the game-changing facility it celebrated. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, we can’t wait to see you back on the courts soon!
